favourite movies

When i’m asked the question “what’s your favourite movie?” it’s pretty easy for me to answer. Simply, The Goonies. But when someone asks me “what are your top favourite movies?” then I have a bit more trouble picking out my top five because there’s always going to be that one that could be #5 but slips to sixth place and you later regret your decision. It’s so much easier to sort your favourite movies into categories by genre. So much easier! I’ll list off a few of my favourites, lets say top five, in different genres!

Top Favourites
: The Goonies, The Breakfast Club, October Sky, The Princess Bride, A Little Princess.

Action
: Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction, Inglourious Basterds, Saving Private Ryan, Gladiator. (Can you tell I like Tarantino?)

Comedy
: Mean Girls, Bridesmaids, 21 Jump Street, Due Date, Date Night, Death at a Funeral.

Rom Com
: The Proposal, Hit & Run(kind of action-y), Going the Distance, Love & Other Drugs, 10 Things I Hate About You.

Romance: The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, Bright Star, Moulin Rouge, Pride and Prejudice.

Foreign: The Tunnel, Pan’s Labyrinth, Leon: The Professional, Frida.

Drama: The Shawshank Redemption, Into the Wild, Lawless, I Am Sam, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape.

Horror: Cabin in the Woods, The Shining, Donnie Darko, The Collector, The Silence of the Lambs.

Animated/Disney: Spirited Away, Peter Pan, The Little Mermaid, Tangled, Ratatouille.

Sci-fi
: StarWars, Star Trek, Serenity, Alien, The Fifth Element.

So there are my lists. There are actually quite a few in my head that I wanted to add but I had to limit myself!! I did add a ‘Top Favourites’ only because I couldn’t place them in certain categories, so there, I cheated a bit haha! I would enjoy to hear what your favourite movies are out there; whether or not you have a top five, I want to hear them!! What are your favourite movies?

YOU HAD ME AT HELLO.

So I started this blog on a whim of getting my thoughts and opinion on movies out there. I love movies, I’m not afraid to admit that. I work at a movie theater and with the job I can see movies free of charge. It’s a huge bonus, I know.

You’re probably wondering, “who is this chick?” Well, for starters I am a creative writing student at a local college in hopes of somehow winding my way into the movie business, without the whole acting bit. I’d rather write, or cast for movies, you know, someone with a say. Movies have always had a special place in my life. I mean, I practically grew up on Disney, The Goonies and dubbed Jackie Chan action flicks. I didn’t have cable from when I was two to fourteen, so movies were my only source of entertainment apart from good ol’ books and music. I became attached to characters like Erin Brockovich, Mike Walsh, and Harry Potter. I started writing when I was younger, around nine or ten years old. Scriptwriting has become a newer interest for me, but creating stories in general has always been a passion.

All I can hope for in this blog is an outlet for my thoughts and new connections with the world of film. I’ll be writing reviews, lists on my favourite movies and who I think are the top actors and actresses in today’s world as well as a look back into the earlier years of Cinema. Who doesn’t love a little black and white!

Thanks for listening,
